The findings of these evaluations are reviewed with the patient and if appropriate with the patient’s support system. A treatment plan addressing core findings is presented. We recommend collaborating with other providers involved in patient care.
Medications are frequently needed to target potential psychiatric symptoms. However, their initiation and ongoing use carries risk of side effects. We take specific steps to educate patients on the risks and benefits of each medication being considered or used. Ongoing monitoring of side effects is routine part of the clinic visits. Effort to minimize the use of polypharmacy (use of multiple medications) is regularly undertaken. We pride ourselves in taking sufficient time to review each medication, its utility and side effect with our patients. We emphasize the need for a complete and unhurried conversation and ongoing availability for any follow-up questions.
